Originally, IldDaryn relied on the town of IldMitir, which was established on the opposite bank of the river, for agriculture, as the flatter terrain on the other side of the river and the far less dense woods on that side were more conducive to the creation of farms. However, in Y.D. 30140, a massive undertaking to build a bridge across the breadth of IldSera resulted in both settlements becoming unified. For a time, ferrying over barges of grain and produce to IldDaryn worked, but demand for Ruthan lumber and increased mercantile traffic proved to be problematic over time.
