Alphabet

One of the most important things to note about the alphabet of the Tretalleri dialect, and that of Elle'lyndë in general, is that vowels do not and cannot exist as separate characters. They are used in ligatures with consonants—and only specific ones at that. It is also worth knowing that the vowel y in Elle'lyndë is generally absent in Tretalleri. It is only used in words that have more or less remained identical over the evolution of the dialect from the parent tongue of Elle'lyndë.

Note that the leftmost column lists the consonants while the rest of the table lists the consonant-vowel ligatures that are present in the language.

Consonant a e/y i o u
b ba be/by bi bo
c ca ce ci cu
d da de id/di do du
f fa fe/fy if/fi fu
g ga ge gi gu
h ha hi oh hu
j ja je ji jo
k ak/ka ke/ky ki ko
l la el/le/ly li lu lo
m ma me mi mo
n an/na ne/ny ni
p pa pe pi pu
q qa qi qu
r ra er/re/ry ir/ri or ur
s sa se/sy si
t ta te/ty ti to
v av/va ve/vy vi vo
w wy wi

z za zi zo

Terminal ë

There is only one vowel in Tretalleri and Elle'lyndë that can exist separately from other characters. This is the terminating vowel ë. Unless otherwise prescribed, a compound word in the Elfin tongue cannot end in a consonant. This is remedied by using the special character, latinized as ë to terminate the word except in the cases where the word is terminated by a consonant-vowel ligature not ending in e.
